Jupiter & Neptune Paediatric Ward refurbishment

Jupiter & Neptune Paediatric Ward refurbishment

  • Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals are one of London’s largest providers of children’s services. Together, both hospitals care for more than 80,000 children each year. Their main aim is to provide all children and young people with safe, effective and reliable care—ensuring that their stay in hospital is as short as possible.

  • The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is also the lead centre for specialist paediatric and neonatal surgery in north west London, meaning that they carry out the most complex surgeries on babies and children. The hospital has also undergone major redevelopment to improve children’s wards, introduce state of the art children’s operating theatres and put in place new premises for the Hospital School.

  • The redevelopment improves services for patients and secures Chelsea and Westminster’s future as a specialist hospital with a wide range of local services.

  • Critical services including new medical gases, a nurse call system, UPS, and telemetry updates with programmed services interruptions were installed. Adaptations to the existing mechanical and electrical services, HBN00-10 Part C (formerly HTM64 compliant) sink systems and assisted WC facilities were also installed. We supplied and installed HBN00-10 Part A (formerly HTM61) compliant flooring in line with outcome 8 of the CQC’s ‘Essential Standards of Quality and Safety’ to control infection and promote cleanliness and hygiene. The flooring colours were chosen to be bright and welcoming for the paediatric patients. The refurbishment also included new ceilings and low surface temperature (LST) radiators to prevent scalding to the young children.
